  • Cinemateca Portuguesa: Os Filmes de Ernie Gehr

    Cinemateca Portuguesa – Museu do Cinema will host a retrospective on the work of Ernie Gehr, in his presence. With thirty-one titles, “Os Filmes de Ernie Gehr” will be one of the most complete programs on his work to date. Ernie Gehr will be in Lisbon to present all the seven programs scheduled for Cinemateca’s retrospective that range a body of work from the end of the 60’s until the present day.

  • Carl Stone & Eric Theise + MAXX GYORKEL @ Indexical

    Carl Stone is one of the pioneers of live computer music. He has been hailed by the Village Voice as “the king of sampling” and “one of the best composers living in [the USA] today.” For this show, Stone performs a solo set and is also joined by experimental video-cartographer Eric Theise in a premiere duo collaboration. Santa Cruz / Oakland trio MAXX GYORKEL opens with a new project.

  • S8 Mostra de Cinema Periférico 2022

    The (S8) International Peripheral Film Festival (Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico) of A Coruña unveiled much of its programme. The festival will be held from next 27 May to 5 June in venues like the Domus, the Luis Seoane Foundation, the Palexco Hall and the Port of A Coruña.
    In the words of the director, Ángel Rueda, "The festival works in the present for the future, which is why we are presenting a festival this time in which we are working for new audiences with the aim of bringing young people from the small screen to the big one, shifting from individualism to the collective experience of the cinema theatre."

  • Klonaris/Thomadaki: Bodies in revolt

    The first retrospective in Italy dedicated to the artistic duo Maria Klonaris and Katerina Thomadaki, with a selection of works from the 1970s to the present day that restores the essence of their research.

    The porosity of the boundaries between bodies, genders, arts, media; the reinterpretation of the cinematographic image as a space of relation; the moving image as a field of political resistance, a device for constructing a free and radical subjectivity.

  • Atelier 105: Open call for second session of 2022

    Since October 2014, Light Cone hosts artist residencies dedicated to the video-based post-production of films that belong to the realm of experimental cinema, with the aim of supporting approximately 10 projects per year. The residency is adapted to the workflow of experimental filmmakers, and, therefore, eligibility criteria are deliberately kept open. Short, medium, as well as feature-length films are welcome, on the condition that shooting is completed and editing is already advanced, with or without the backing of an independent production company.

  • Altered Images - call for artists

    Altered Images is a spontaneous space for experimental film production, videoart, installations and live music. The festival aims to showcase silent or sound movies that are open to a sound reinterpretation. Our showcase is open to artists whose works have an experimental and innovative character. Its goal is to create forthcoming events of live music, projections and art installations, where people can enjoy the show in a relaxed and friendly environment within the London artist scene (UK).
