  • Pablo Marín

    Pablo Marín was born in 1982 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In addition to teaching (Universidad del Cine, Buenos Aires; Centro de Investigación y Enseñanza en Cine y Video (CYEVIC), Buenos Aires) and writing on film (La región central, Kilómetro 111), he is a film and video curator and filmmaker. He also curated the DVD Dialéctica en suspenso: Argentine Experimental Film and Video, published by Antennae Collection.

  • Gregory J.Markopoulos

    Gregory J. Markopoulos (March 12, 1928 - November 12, 1992) was an American experimental filmmaker. Born in Toledo, Ohio to Greek immigrant parents, Markopoulos began making 8 mm films at an early age. He attended USC Film School in the late 1940s, and went on to become a co-founder — with Jonas Mekas, Shirley Clarke, Stan Brakhage and others — of the New American Cinema movement. He was as well a contributor to Film Culture magazine, and an instructor at the Art Institute of Chicago.

  • Stéphane Marti

    Filmmaker and teacher, Stéphane Marti has been researching experimental cinema as an art form liberated of aesthetic codes and the economics of big budget cinema. His work is primarily focused on the themes of the sacred and the human body. An avid supporter of the Super-8 format, he has been fighting for its merits as a tool. He has used this format film after film and has been sharing his experiences with new filmmakers during his workshops at the Sorbonne’s College of the Arts (Paris I).

    Bruce McClure is a licensed architect living in Brooklyn, NY. In 1994 he began working with stroboscopic discs as an entry to cinematic pursuits. Since 1995 his film and live projector performances have been exhibited at numerous venues and festivals around the world, including the Rotterdam International Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, the New York Film Festival’s “Views of the Avant-Garde,” the Whitney Biennial, the Walker Art Center, the Wexner Center for the Arts, as well as in the UK, Italy, Australia, and elsewhere.

    Personal Life The daughter of Catholic-Lithuanian immigrants, she grew up in Brooklyn. In 1931 she met and married Willard Maas, a professor of literature at Wagner College in Staten Island. It was a rocky and unstable marriage.

    Rebecca Meyers (b. 1976, New York) is a filmmaker who shoots, edits, and finishes on 16mm film. Meyers chooses to work with “small gauge” 16mm film because it offers an intimate means of exploration and the opportunity for direct connection with light, which is in many ways at the core of her work. Her exploration of the resolution, contrast, and texture of light, together with her keen eye for the appearance of nature in our lives, lend nuance and intensity to her short films.
