The Florida Experimental Film/Video Festival dates are February 7th-10th, 2019 in Tampa, Florida. Festival applications are open 10/10/2018 – 11/20/18

FLEX FEST is seeking short form experimental films and videos (30mins or less) for the 2019 festival. We can screen Super 8mm, 16mm, and High Quality digital formats (not DCP.) The last FLEX competition festival was held in 2015, so we are looking for any work made after January of 2015.

WHAT IS EXPERIMENTAL? FLEX doesn’t want to know in advance what experimental means. We’re interested in work that challenges generic designations (including the traditional “avant garde” or “underground” ones). Work may also draw on documentary, narrative, animation, or any other tradition – or no tradition at all. So, what is experimental? We’re hoping to be surprised by your answer.

Individual entries are $15 each. If a filmmaker submits 3 or more works, the entry fee is reduced to $10 per entry. We accept payment via PayPal, debit, or credit card.

Filmmakers submitting from outside the United States and filmmakers whose work we have accepted to previous festivals are NOT required to pay an entry fee.
