Out of moments that it articulates little by little, the film develops a complex view of a person: it shows the sculptor Cesare Ferronato at work with volumes of stone and wax, or drawing; it demonstrates how he moulds inner lines into the material and how the sculptures emerge as the core of their total surroundings.
In the space of sculpture as well as in the space of film, the image encompasses the sum of multiple aspects. The film, taken from time spent together during a period of authorship, tells of the real existence of the artist who—in relating an account of himself—incises his actions into the moment.
Filmed in Montelicciano, Italy, and Zurich, 2006.
