L'Œil d'Oodaaq is an organization based in Rennes, France, that explores the images that surround us today, based on artists' productions. In 2024, L'Oeil d'Oodaaq is organizing its 13th Oodaaq Festival. It will take place in May in Rennes.

Through its programming, L'OEil d'Oodaaq questions the place of the image in today's society, and the way in which artists address contemporary problems and social issues. L'OEil d'Oodaaq is interested in all stages of the image's existence, from its construction to its reception and circulation, as well as its recent mutations in the digital age.

The Oodaaq Festival is intended as a space for encounters and cross-fertilization around these reflections on images and their media. Since the 2023 edition, the festival has been mainly devoted to video and performance art, with a particular interest in works that question contemporary struggles (ecofeminism, feminism(s), social and ecological struggles...). At the heart of the program, videos will be presented as part of program screenings containing several works, installations, and showcases.

Candidates may apply for at least 1 up to 3 projects for the Oodaaq Festival : video works varied in their form and content.

Applications are to be sent before September 27, 2023 at midnight, exclusively via email (Wetransfer or other file sharing tools are NOT accepted) to : [email protected]

Every application has to be sent as a zip file (named « surname-first name ») not exceeding 10MB and containing :

- An online application form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc35SHrdnAqfTNLJQ-T9mO7N-XZ-9s1OiAfEtpix_ilclJjag/viewform?usp=pp_url) - Portfolio - Bio - Text about the proposed artwork(s) - A high-resolution image extracted from the video (300 DPI, named « surname-first name-title.jpg).

High quality video files are requested in case of selection.

The applicants will be notified of the jury's decision in January 2024.

L’Œil d’Oodaaq is paying author’s rights or exhibition fees to the selected artists. The exact amount will be fixed regarding the terms and frequency of presentation of the work.

In order to encourage encounters between artists and public, L’Œil d’Oodaaq participates in the travel costs of the artists who come to the festival according to the following terms: - Total travel costs are covered for artists whose travel is essential (complex installation). - Travel costs up to 50 euros maximum for artists who don’t need to be present but are encouraged to come to the festival (video artists mainly).
